From the East:

I am hoping that April finds all of the Brothers of Thunderbird #15 Lodge and their families doing well. The winter here in Phoenix went out like a lion, which means it was hotter than it normally should be. I went to several outdoor events recently and had to wonder why every time I go to an outdoor event in March, the temperature always seems to be much higher than it should be. I am sure that those who have summer homes in the north country are ready to flee the valley heat already.

At the last Stated Meeting we made several donations to the youth groups – Rainbow Girls, Job’s Daughters and DeMolay. I am glad we are able to support these organizations, which teach our youth many valuable lessons in citizenship and build character so well. In August I attended a DeMolay Honors Night, and was very impressed by the young men in this organization. And their excellent ritual work can humble many Masons! Currently there are only a couple of DeMolay groups active in the Phoenix area, at the Glendale and Scottsdale Lodges. Last evening I attended a Rainbow Girls Honors Night at Chandler Lodge, and was just as impressed by the way these young women carried themselves as I was by the young men. There are more active groups in Rainbow Girls and Job’s Daughters in the valley and in our local area meet at Chandler, Mesa and Scottsdale Lodges. If you have a son or daughter who would like to be in one of these groups, please contact one of our Lodge officers and we will help get you started.

This Trestle Board will be the last chance to RSVP for the picnic at Papago Park. A flyer is enclosed. Also, by the time you receive this Trestle Board, we will have initiated our newest EA on March 22. Come to the Stated Meeting on April 12 and welcome our new brother into your Lodge. We are looking forward to doing a lot of Fellowcraft degrees this summer, as soon as proficiencies are completed. At the April Stated Meeting, a synopsis of all the legislation that will balloted on at Grand Lodge in June. If you want to know about the proposed legislation for Grand Lodge, you need to be at this meeting. The Lodge Brothers need to communicate to our Lodge Officers – the Master, Junior and Senior Wardens – how they wish for them to ballot on these issues at Grand Lodge on behalf of the Brothers of Thunderbird Lodge #15. See you in Lodge!

Worshipful Master

From the Secretary

It is with sad news that I report Brother Billie Eugene ‘Bill’ Miller, 82, passed away on 2 March 2007, who recently was approved to receive his 50 year award.  Brother Bill was a US Army veteran and retired from the construction industry to Casa Grande.  Brother Bill was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.  Brother Bill’s son Stephen is a member of Pinal Lodge #30 in Casa Grande.  Brother Bill’s funeral was Wednesday, 7 March 2007 in Chandler.  May he rest in peace, harmony and brotherly love.

We really appreciate your continued membership in Thunderbird #15.  If you have any problems or issues that I can help resolve, please give me a call at 480-759-0253 or send an e-mail to beattyw@msn.com .
