Thunderbird Lodge No. 15
Free and Accepted Masons
Volume 13, Issue 2 www.thunderbird15.org February 2006

From the
East:
January’s
stated meeting was a long one, but we got a lot done. In our special election,
Worshipful Stan Wood was elected into the Junior Warden’s chair for the rest of
this year. Worshipful Brother Stan knows his work and recently served us well
as an elected officer and Master. It is my hope that Stan is the last Past
Master to be recycled in our lodge. Worshipful Brother Richard Hudson, who
could not accept the chair after the regular election due to health reasons, is
getting along quite well. All who have visited him at home or on the phone give
good reports on his health, but it will still be some time before he can visit
us in Lodge again. We all wish him well.
The
budget for 2006 was presented at the Jan. stated meeting. The budget was
similar to last year’s, with sufficient funds to cover proposed lodge expenses
and charities for this year. Worshipful Brother Bill Beatty gave a report on
Lodge finances, and our finances are in good order with our building fund
intact and earning interest, per the by-laws, and accounts other than the
building fund still able to finance lodge activities at the level we have been
at for the past several years.
On
Tuesday, January 10, three of us paid an official visit to Chandler 34 Lodge.
The Master of the Lodge is Gaston Mascarenas, and he
and the brethren of 34 were most hospitable and some of the most enjoyable
people I have been with in a long time. It is a very nice Lodge, and in a very
comfortable building that oozes with history of Masonry in
Worshipful
Bill Beatty takes care of our web site in addition to editing the Trestleboard and all the other stuff he does. He’s a
regular Sneelock. Bill keeps the website updated as
new items come in between Trestleboards, so if you’re
curious about anything, check out our website at www.thunderbird15.org
At
the February stated meeting, we will start our planning for a Lodge picnic in April, and a Thunderbird 48-Tempe15-Thunderbird 15
By
the time you receive this Trestleboard, there will
have been a First Degree on January 19. The first one for this year, and I hope
to see as many more as the officers we have who are able to put on degrees are
able to do. The only way we can grow this Lodge is to bring in new members, get
them interested in the work and get them involved. Our Lodge activities other
than stated meetings and degree work are not always closed. If you have a
friend or acquaintance who is interested in Masonry, bring him up to have
dinner with the brothers and see the lodge room. Let him ask questions. If you
do not have the answer, another of your lodge brothers probably will. Remember,
we are not a secret society, we are a society that has
secrets. You should feel comfortable talking about your Masonic life with any
potential petitioner. And if you have a prospective candidate who does not wish
to go through the degrees in the traditional way, Grand Lodge will be having a
one day class on Saturday, May 27, at the El Zaribah
Shrine, located just below our humble lodge room. If you have a candidate, his
petition must be in to our lodge at the very latest by the stated meeting on
April 6, so we can do a first reading that night and a second reading at the
May 4 stated meeting. Until next month,
Jim Drake, Worshipful Master

Missing
Historical Files: The historical files for both Tempe #15 and
Thunderbird #48 are still missing from the Grand Lodge, and so far no one is
able to recall what may have happened to these important files. If anyone has historical information they
would like to share to allow the reconstruction of the historical files, please
send us what you are willing to share.
Anything you may have would be of great help in recreating the history
