Thunderbird Lodge No. 15
Free and Accepted Masons
Volume 14, Issue 1 www.thunderbird15.org January 2007

From the
East:
I wish all Brothers of Thunderbird Lodge #15, their families and all Masons whithersoever dispersed
the best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year, and trust that everyone
had a merry Christmas and happy holiday season. It will be my honor and
privilege to serve Thunderbird Lodge #15 as Worshipful Master again this year,
and look forward to this year as being one of further improvement and change
for our Lodge. We have a line of good and dedicated officers and there will be
fewer “PM” initials appearing behind them. We raised a number of Master Masons
last year, and we have initiated more candidates who are presently working on
their proficiencies and will be passed and raised this year, and we continue to
receive more petitions for new members and for affiliation.
Going back to having candidates doing full proficiency in
Lodge has had good effect in the candidates being familiar with the work as
they go through the degrees, which will better prepare them to do ritual,
mentor and speak about our craft with knowledge and authority. But with the
amount of degree work I foresee in the Lodge this year, we need some commitment
from the membership to help with ritual work, or at least attend the degree
work as sideliners to welcome our new candidates and brothers into our Lodge.
The only limiting factor I see in initiating, passing and raising new Masons in
our lodge is the number of men who know degree work and are willing to
participate. We presently have pretty much one team to do all the degree work,
and very few lecturers. In some of our work this past year we were rescued by
the good Brothers of other Lodges, Oriental 20 and
Our young officers are working hard on their ritual work
and are doing pretty good at it, but more importantly, they are envisioning
what they want our Lodge to be as they move through the chairs and are working
to build a line of officers behind themselves. In addition to the poinsettia
distribution, Lodge picnic and Lodge Banquet, these officers are coming with
new ideas for Lodge activities we will be trying on this year. One of which is
to set up a library in our outer room and begin doing book readings and
discussions of things Masonic outside of ritual work. We received a generous
donation of books from one of our widows, Mrs. Priscilla Clay, which has begun
to increase the size of the small library we already had. Further donations
will be greatly appreciated to help build our library and spread Masonic
knowledge amongst the brethren.
Our next degree will be a first degree on February 1, at
