Thunderbird Lodge No. 15
Free and Accepted Masons
Volume 13, Issue 7 www.thunderbird15.org July 2006

From the
East:
For
the first time this year I almost got my article done for the Trestleboard on time. The reason I did not was because I
wrote such a poison pen letter last night that I had to take a break and
rethink what I wanted to say. I went to Lodge last night and no one was there,
again. I’ve been politely dancing around this subject for a long time now, but
brothers I’m going to be blunt. Every time you do not come to Lodge or support
your Lodge in some way other than paying your dues every year, then you are
voting with your feet for this Lodge to fail.
We have a handful, and I do mean count your fingers, of
brothers who participate and have put a lot of work into keeping this Lodge
going, but nothing seems to work. So tell me what it is. Why did you become a
member of this Lodge to do nothing? This is your Lodge. If you do not come up
here on some kind of a regular basis and participate, then how will you ever
hope to get any
benefit from being a member of this organization? When I became a Master Mason I thought I was joining a community
service organization where men got together to improve themselves and the
community. So far all I have seen is this handful of Brothers
endeavoring to keep this Lodge open, and at times to make a few improvements
that end up doing nothing to entice any one else to come up and participate. We
do not have a full line of officers, we will have to recycle Masters for the
next two years and important committees are unfilled. I, along with some
others, am wondering if our time investment here is worthwhile or it would be
more effective elsewhere.
There will be an officer’s meeting on Thursday, June 22,
at
We did a first reading of petitions for three candidates
at the last stated meeting. We will also be discussing how we will manage to
initiate these candidates in the coming months.
