Thunderbird Lodge No. 15
Free and Accepted Masons
Volume 13, Issue 3 www.thunderbird15.org March 2006

From the
East:
Wow!
Five petitions were read at the last stated meeting! I think that is some kind
of record for our Lodge, at least during the time I have been a member. As
these candidates go through the process and come into our lodge we need to welcome
them and make them feel at home. At this meeting we also welcomed our newest
Entered Apprentice, Scott Lowrey. Scott also visited
at Oriental 20 the previous week with some of us to see the first degree put on
for the son of the Master, Harmon Kadis.
There
will be a one day class at the El Zaribah Shrine on
Saturday, May 27, which is being put on by Grand Lodge. Thunderbird 15 has
volunteered to be the host Lodge for this, which chiefly means we will allow
our furniture to be used for the three degrees being put on in the auditorium
and help with set up and tear down. This very likely will be the last one day
class to be put on by Grand Lodge for some time, so if you have a friend who is
interested in Masonry and wants to come in by this route, now is the time to do
it. It would be best to have the petition in by the Stated Meeting on March 2.
We
have a Fellowcraft degree scheduled for March 16, and
there is a possibility there will be two candidates in this ceremony. Please
put this on your calendar and come welcome these brothers to the middle step of
a Mason. It is always nice to have some sideliners present at the degrees to
encourage our new brothers.
There
is a flyer in this Trestleboard for a family picnic
the Lodge is having on April 15. Please come join us for a day of fellowship
and fun. You are welcome, I should say encouraged, to
bring friends, relatives or members of other Lodges, especially if you have
someone who is interested in becoming a Mason or joining this Lodge. This is a
great opportunity for them to meet the brothers and find out more about Masonry
and Thunderbird 15.
We
are also in the planning stages for a Thunderbird 15 reunion in November. More
discussion about this will be done at the March meeting, and if everything is
approved I hope to have a registration form in the next Trestleboard.
We presently have a room reserved at the El Zaribah
Shrine for Thursday, November 9. Plans are to have a dinner with a program of
some kind, either entertainment or education or both, with guest speakers. This
will also be our widow’s night. We want to celebrate the history and fellowship
of the three Lodges –
So,
we’re getting a lot on our plate. If you have any thoughts about getting more
active in the Lodge, now is the time. We could always use more people to serve
on these committees and put together some good programs.
Fraternally
Yours,
Jim Drake, WM
We are looking for any records or memorabilia anyone may
have from
Thunderbird 15 has always been in a quandary because
we don’t have a kitchen. We have made some attempts at having food in the Lodge
anteroom before and after meetings with some less than successful results. But
why beat yourself in the head and take brothers away from all that good ritual
practice time when you have a perfectly good eating establishment right below
the Lodge? The Lodge has decided that on Stated Meeting nights, the Lodge will
pay for dinner at the Red Fez for anyone attending Lodge that night. Brothers
will be responsible for tipping the waitresses. And if you are feeling guilty
for ordering the $8.00 shrimp and chips instead of the $4.00 grilled cheese
sandwich, there will be a donation box out whereby you can help the Lodge
defray the costs and clear your conscience.
