From the East:

The cold weather of the Phoenix “winter” is probably behind us now and I hope that the springtime finds all our brothers and their families well. The Lodge picnic is coming up on April 14. David Beacco says he will bring his bocce ball set so we can see how proficient everyone is in lawn bowling. We need everyone who planning to attend to sign up by calling 480-756-1105 by April 1, which is coming fast. So far only a few have signed up, and we want to have enough food for everyone. The picnic is open to everyone, so bring your family, friends or brothers from other lodges. If you have a prospective Mason, bring him along to meet us and get a petition.

I want to welcome our newest Entered Apprentice, Jon Logan into the Lodge. Jon was initiated on February 1, and is working on his proficiency. Our next degree work is another EA scheduled for Thursday, March 22 at 7:00 PM. Come to the Lodge and welcome our candidate. We presently have five Entered Apprentices working on their proficiencies, so we should have a lot of Fellow craft degrees coming up in the spring.

Congratulations to our Senior Deacon, Gustavo Ramirez and his wife, Sahara, on the birth of their second child. Also, best wishes to our Junior Warden on his continued recovery from his surgery on February 2.

We were honored to have Ron Randleman, Past Potentate, and Ralph Blanton in our Lodge at the last stated Meeting to receive their 50-year pins. Wayne Criswell and Ray Boles, PM, who recently celebrated his 56th Masonic Birthday, accompanied them. These men were all members of Tempe 15, and some even had the opportunity of sitting in Lodge with the late Senator Carl Hayden. We enjoyed hearing their stories of what Tempe was like before ASU consumed a large part of the original town and the City Council “modernized” Mill Avenue.

Grand Lodge is in Flagstaff this year on May 31- June 2. Early reservations have to be in by February 28. This looks like it will be one of the most enjoyable Grand Lodges, with lots of activities planned. There is always a lot of important legislation to be balloted on at Grand Lodge, if you are eligible to ballot, but as a Lodge member you should make your opinion on legislation known to the officers who will be balloting. For registration, see Arizona Masonry, or contact one of our officers. And don’t forget to visit our web site periodically to stay up to date between Trestle Boards.

From the Secretary

Hey, do you have any Masonic books gathering dust on your shelf?  If so, please consider donating them to the Lodge library so others may enjoy something you’ve already read.

We still have 41 members who have not yet paid their 2007 dues, so please check your dues card to see if you are current.  I’ll be sending out individual reminders later this month for those who may have forgotten.  If you’re tired of paying dues, you might consider buying a Perpetual Membership for 15 times our $64 dues.  Our dues are among the lowest in Arizona, so a Perpetual Membership is a relative bargain.  Currently a Perpetual Membership is $960 which forever exempts you from paying future dues and leaves an income to the Lodge when you pass on to the celestial Lodge above.

We really appreciate your continued membership in Thunderbird #15.  If you have any problems or issues that I can help resolve, please give me a call at 480-759-0253 or send an e-mail to beattyw@msn.com .
