From the East:

Wow, March was a busy month. The spring and fall months always seem busy in Phoenix. There is just too much going on to keep up. I hope my Lodge brothers were able to keep up and enjoy themselves, and first I would like to welcome our most recent Entered Apprentice, Andrew Harrison, into our lodge.  Andrew was initiated on March 29, and there was a bonus in the lecture at his degree – John Logan, who was initiated in January, gave his proficiency in the first degree lecture at the beginning of the lecture. So we will be having a Fellow craft for John on May 17, at 7:00 PM.  Thanks to all the brothers who helped out with parts in the EA and don’t forget to sign up for the FC.

Our Chaplain, David Beacco, and our Junior Deacon, Michael Gattorna, attended the Masonic Education program in Lake Havasu on March 30 – 31, and report that it was a very good program and they enjoyed themselves immensely. And some of us attended a military degree at Chandler Lodge #34, which I have been waiting a long time to see and it was well worth the reward. I do not care what anyone says, the Marines have the best dress uniforms. But our secretary did look good in his Army Mess Dress uniform from when he served at the White House. We also had our second annual picnic on April 14, at Tempe Papago Park. Our Senior Deacon’s son, Gus Jr., recently broke an arm playing at home, but it did not slow him down a bit at the picnic. He ran for the playground as soon he hit the ground, only pausing long enough to put away a little food. David Beacco brought his Bocce Ball set, but I do not know who the bowler was because I ran back to the Lodge to check on our Lodge room, which had been used by the DeMolay for their annual congress the same day.

May is the month in which we honor our veterans who have served our country in the armed forces, as well as those who are presently serving. So at our stated meeting in May, I would like to honor our brothers who are vets by giving them an opportunity to share with us the nature of their service, such as when they were in the service, what branch, where they served and what they did.  And we are not necessarily expecting to hear war stories. Of all the men who have served in the armed services, the number who have actually been combat is far fewer than those who were not placed in the line of fire. Yet they all did their part in making our country and have a story to tell. I can’t wait to hear them.

                                                                                    Jim Drake PM, Worshipful Master

From the Secretary

Please check your dues card as we still have 31 members who are not current for this year.  Our last dues drive resulted in several members becoming current, but we still have a ways to go.  I’ll be sending another friendly reminder again soon.

Thanks to those who sent in their Masonic books for our library, your generosity is appreciated.  We still have room for more Masonic books, and more are being published from time to time so pass on your old books after you have read them for others to enjoy.

We really appreciate your continued membership in Thunderbird #15.  If you have any problems or issues that I can help resolve, please give me a call at 480-759-0253 or send an e-mail to beattyw@msn.com .
