From the
East:
I am happy to be back with the craft. The last few months
have been tough on me, my family and Masonic family. It looks as if they have
removed all the cancer by removing my right kidney. At the present time I do
not have to have dialysis; my left kidney is doing the job very well. I want to
thank the Lodge for the flowers, and several of the brothers who came by to
visit. It was wonderful to see my brothers and talk to them. I would like to invite all the brothers
that live in the Valley to come to a Stated Meeting. We will buy your
dinner in the Red Fez Room at 6:00 pm and then proceed upstairs to the lodge
room. I would like your input about the lodge, about Freemasonry and whatever
else that you feel is important to you. This is your lodge, and I feel that you
should have a voice and not leave it to the 10 or 20 members who show up for a
meeting. We have 126 members who live in the Valley, which stretches from
Apache Junction to Tonopah. If you feel rusty in remembering the work, we
will be happy to help you. We
are all brothers and brothers are to
help each other. Also, you do not have to come to the next Stated Meeting;
you may come to any Stated Meeting, Special Meeting or Degree work. Remember, we have our Stated Meeting on the
first Thursday of the month and that is the meeting that the Lodge buys dinner
for all the members and visitors who come to the meeting. Dinner is yours
to provide for Special Meetings and practices.
If you come to Lodge and like it, talk to your
male family members, your friends and your neighbors. You joined Masonry for a reason. If you have a problem, talk to me
and I will be glad to see if we can fix the problem. I cannot promise miracles,
but I can do my best under the Masonic code. If you need a ride, call myself or
any of the brothers listed on this Trestleboard and we will be happy to help
get you to Lodge.
For
the 18 members who live in Arizona, but out of the Valley, you are always
welcome to visit our Lodge if you are in the Valley for some reason on a
Thursday. And to the 19 members who live out of state, I hope you will also
visit us some time. I hope, too, that these 37 members who live out of the
Valley and the state do get to a Lodge for the brotherly love of the
fraternity.
Grand Lodge was held the first
week of June and was well represented. VW Bill Robertson was again elected to
the office of Grand Secretary, and VW George Stablein was elected to a 1 year
term on the Grand Trustees. Congratulations to both of our brothers. One of the
changes voted on will change our per capita expense. The new per capitata will
be $20.26. This figure was based on the budget for Grand Lodge for this Masonic
year. Next year it will probably be a different amount. This new change will
take effect with next year’s (2010) dues notices. This will not affect our
perpetual or Senior Life members. But if you perpetual members want to help,
you could send a check for $20.26 to help the Lodge cover this per capita
increase.
In
closing, I want to thank the members for remembering me while I was in the
hospital and nursing home. And I would love to see our members at some future
Stated Meeting. In Brotherly Love and Friendship,
Jeff Grayson PM, Master
Trustee Meeting Notice
The Lodge Trustees will meet on July 9 at 7:00 pm in our
refreshment area of the Lodge. This meeting is required by our by-laws and
there should not be very much business to talk about. The most important is
what to do with our CD which is about to roll over. All members of the Lodge
are invited to come to the meeting and voice their opinion, bur the final
decision will be made by the Trustees.
From the Secretary:
Brothers, when you move or change your
address, please inform the Lodge secretary. A great deal of my time as
Secretary is consumed with tracking down some of our lodge brothers who have
relocated or otherwise. Also be sure your family knows how to get in touch with
the lodge if you are in sickness or distress and in need of assistance. If you
desire a Masonic service at your funeral, someone will have to know how tocontact
the Lodge at the earliest time possible. Sadly we quite often learn of the
passing of a brother months or years after it has occurred.
We
presently have a number of members who are perpetual or Senior Life members who
we have lost track of and if they are not located soon we will have to take the
necessary measures to remove them from our roster.
We
really appreciate your continued membership in Thunderbird #15. If you have any problems or issues that I can
help resolve, please give me a call at 480-510-8564.
