Volume 12, Issue 5 November 2005
Greetings from the East:
HAI BRETHREN
At November 3rd 2005, stated meeting we will be electing the Lodge Officers for 2006. Please come to the Thunderbird Lodge # 15 and elect your Worshipful Master, Senior and Junior Warden, then the Treasurer, Secretary and one Trustee.
No one’s name is placed in nomination, nor seconded, each member writes the name of the person he would select as Worshipful Master on a piece of paper and the votes tallied and destroyed, and the same for the others Officers and Trustee, each elected Officer is a big job, the ritual work is very important.
The Master of Thunderbird Lodge # 15 needs to be a good manager.
Please come to the Lodge and participate for election.
Dinner is served at 6:00 PM and the program will start at 7:30 PM.
The Worshipful James W. Rowan, Junior Grand Deacon, will also be conducting his Official Visit during our Stated Meeting on November 3rd 2005, so please join us.
Reza Farrokh PM, Worshipful Master
From the West:
At the October stated meeting the Lodge was supposed to be ready to vote on a resolution to move our lodge to another location. No one was ready or willing to present a serious resolution to the Lodge at that time, so by a vote of 8 to 7 it was decided to table any further discussion of moving the Lodge until someone was ready to present a proper resolution. In order to move our Lodge, a resolution first needs to be presented at a stated meeting, and the resolution needs to address the reasons for the move and how the move will be accomplished. The brethren present at that stated meeting will be given notice that at the next stated meeting the resolution will be voted on. Also, all the brethren of the Lodge have to be given the resolution in writing. This written notification will be sent to all the brethren of the Lodge no less than two weeks before the vote is taken. Also, the Lodge by-laws will have to be amended and Grand Lodge has to be given the proper notification because the Grand Master will also heave to give approval for any change in the location of our Lodge. We can discuss a move all we want until the cows come home, but until all these ducks are put in a row, talk is just talk and nothing will be accomplished.
Widow’s Night on October 15 was a big hit. We had a sit down dinner at the Red Fez. Shirley and her staff presented us with a nice dinner and took real good care of us. Our hats off to them. A nice presentation was made about the Ladies of the Nile. Formerly, membership was limited to ladies who were related to Shriners, but that has been expanded to also include any Ladies who are related to Master Masons. Our other speaker was not able to show up because of an illness in the family. We had dinner reservations for 50 people, but had about 24 Masons, widows, ladies and guests for dinner.
November is elections. We will be voting for the Master of the Lodge, Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Treasurer, Secretary and at least one Trustee for 2006-2009 at this meeting. We will also be having sandwiches and food in the Lodge starting at 6:00 PM before the meeting, which starts at 7:30.
Jim Drake, Senior Warden
