From the East:

The Reunion Dinner is coming up on us fast, less than a month away, on Thursday, November 9. This is about the last dinner notice we will be able to send out, and it is vital that if you plan to attend, your paid reservation must be sent by Thursday, October 26, as we will order food for the number of people who have made their reservations before the time we finalize the meal service. If you do not make a reservation, you can still attend, but there probably will not be a dinner plate for you. Please see the enclosed flyer for more information. Dinner will be London Broil and Chicken and Pasta, with all the trimmings, and no one will go home hungry.

I went on a trip to Wyoming, and finally got to visit Blue Lodge in my old hometown of Gillette for the first time, as they are dark in the summertime when I am usually there. I got to see pictures of my Grandfather and some Great Uncles on the wall as well many whom I remembered as local movers and shakers when I was a lad. I was a sideliner for two first degrees. Wyoming is Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and while the ritual is the same in content, it is a very different ritual from ours. Whenever you are out of town, take the time to visit another Lodge if the opportunity presents itself. It is a rewarding experience, and the Brothers of the Lodge will make you feel at home, just as if you had always been a member of their Lodge. Some of the brothers in Gillette knew who I was as soon as I introduced myself, and I had never met them before that evening.

Do not forget elections on November 2, at the November Stated Meeting. The Master, Senior and Junior Wardens, Treasurer and Secretary are all elected Officers, as well as any positions on the Board of Trustees that may be open. All other Officers positions are appointed by the new Master. Support your Lodge by balloting on new elected Officers or being present to be appointed as an officer. Installation of officers for 2007 will be on Saturday, December 9. Whatever the outcome of the elections may be, I will be active in the Lodge next year as a mentor, to help with ritual or whatever else may be needed of me.

On this Saturday, October 21, at 10:00 AM, there will be a First Degree ceremony with possibly two candidates. If you are unable to attend Thursday night meetings, this is a good opportunity to fellowship with your Lodge Brothers. We also have a Third Degree scheduled for December 14.
