From the East:

Greetings, Brethren. In September Thunderbird 15 began the Fall season with a few degrees. On Sept. 11, Breton Hill and Glenn Robbins were passed to Fellowcraft. Congratulations to our two new FC’s. Brothers Glen and Breton, get busy on your proficiencies in the Fellowcraft lecture and we will schedule a degree to raise you to the sublime degree of Master Mason as soon as you are proficient. Also a thank-you to all the brothers who participated in their degree team. On September 25 we initiated David James Sumpter as our newest Entered Apprentice Mason. Likewise, as soon as Brother Sumpter is proficient in the Lecture on the EA degree we will schedule your FC degree and pass you to Fellowcraft. I would also like to thank the degree team from this degree, especially our DDGL, WB Terry Letterly and our Brothers from Montuzema 35, without whom it would not have been possible to put on this degree.

On November 6 we will be having our Official Visit by the Junior Grand Deacon, WB Richard McNeill, Jr. It will also be elections night, and additionally we will be balloting on a petition for reinstatement.

We have one Fellowcraft who has completed his proficiency and is ready to have his Master Mason degree scheduled, which we will do at the next Stated Meeting. We have one more FC whose proficiency is also nearly complete, so we will have quite a handful of Master Mason degrees to put on in the near future. The MM degree has many parts which need to be filled. The Brothers from our lodge have to step forward to help put these degrees on. This is not a degree we can count on, nor should we have to count on, Brothers from other Lodges to step in at the last minute to fill in the missing parts. With the number of members we have in this lodge we should be able to do our own degree work.

A survey was sent out in the last Trestleboard. A few have been returned but I have not had the time to read all of them yet. If you have not sent yours in yet, please do so. We need to hear from our lodge brothers and all surveys will be read.

                                                                                    Jim Drake PM, Worshipful Master

 Sickness and Distress:

I am sad to report that some Brothers of Thunderbird 15 have recently had some sickness and distress. Our Chaplain, Don Wilcox was hospitalized for two weeks beginning on September 10 with a viral infection. Brother Don is home and now and doing quite well walking his dogs and exercising. WB Jeff Grayson, our Senior Warden has also had some health problems recently, and his wife Lily had a fall on October 13 which resulted in some broken bones and kidney problems. She is in Good Samaritan Hospital for an undetermined length of time having had some surgeries and dialysis. Jeff and Lily are both very active in Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls in addition to Jeff’s contributions to our lodge. All our prayers and thoughts are with them for as safe and speedy a recovery as possible.

November is Elections Month

November 6 is elections night for Thunderbird 15. We will be balloting for Master, Senior and Junior Wardens as well as Treasurer and Secretary. Additionally we will be balloting on two Trustees – Clinton Molodow’s term expires at the end of this year and if Jon Logan is elected Junior Warden he will be an Ex-Officio Trustee and the Trustee position he presently holds will be vacant. And of course November 4 is the General Election, in which the country will be electing a new President as well various Senators and Congressmen and many elected positions right down to dog catcher. Elections are important, almost sacred to Masonry. In our craft we teach that is not a right, but a duty for those eligible to cast ballots to do so, wheather it is in a national election for who will be President for the next four years or those who be presiding over your lodge for the next year.

From the Secretary:

Dues notices are being sent out in this Trestleboard for all who pay dues annually. If you are a perpetual member you will not receive a dues notice. All dues must be paid by December 31, 2008. As of January 1, 2009 all current dues cards will be expired and you will not be able to attend a meeting with a tiled lodge until you have a current dues card. We really appreciate your continued membership in Thunderbird #15.  If you have any problems or issues that I can help resolve, please give me a call at 480-510-8564.
