From the East:

At our last Stated Meeting on September 7, Brian Mack gave his proficiency on the First Degree lecture in open Lodge. He did a great job, in fact such a good job that on September 21, the Lodge was reconvened for his benefit and Brother Brian was passed to the degree of Fellowcraft. I want to thank all who attended and especially to those who took part in the ritual on short notice. We had a few visitors - Mike Stegan, WM of Camelback 75, and Rod Burris from Chandler 34, who took the parts of the Senior and Junior Wardens, and Jeff Howe of Chandler 34, who had just been Passed in that Lodge the previous Tuesday. Brother Brian’s goal is to be raised by the end of the year.

The First Degree scheduled for September 30 has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 21 at 10:00 AM. We may have two Candidates being initiated on this date, as we will have a petition, as well as an affiliation, to ballot on at the next Stated Meeting. This is another opportunity for you Brothers who can not come on Thursday evenings to enjoy fellowship with us and welcome new members into your Lodge. With one Brother preparing to be raised soon and another waiting in the wings to be passed, we have a lot of degree work coming up before the end of the year, and will need help especially for the Third Degree. Our line officers know the work pretty well, but there are a lot more parts in the Third.

Also, November 2, which is coming fast, will be elections. Come to Lodge and vote for your officers for 2007!

We are getting some reservations coming in for the banquet on November 9. Remember, reservations have to be in by October 26. Dinner for the evening will be:

Soup and Salad

London Broil with Mushroom Demi Glaze

Penne Pasta with Grilled Chicken Strips and Marinara Sauce

Vegetables

Rolls and Butter

Desert

Coffee, Tea and Soft Drinks

We have also confirmed for this evening the “Rose On The Altar” Play, put on by a team from the Scottish Rite, for entertainment. I have not seen this play yet, but anyone I talk to who has seen it gives it rave reviews. We will also have longevity awards and a widow’s program that evening. Where else can you go out and have a good dinner and get entertained for $25.00 a person these days? I believe this will be an enjoyable evening for all who attend.

On this past Saturday, a couple of us went to Prescott to the outdoor degree at Fain Ranch, put on by Aztlan Lodge #1 of Prescott. We had a good time. What a setting! And time to meet Brother Masons form around the state. It was a Third Degree, the Tylers are on horseback, the Deputy Grand Master(Who is also Aztlan Lodge’s Secretary) acted as Master, the Grand Master did the lecture, and a Past Grand Master was King Solomon. This is an annual event, so if you have the opportunity to go next year, don’t miss it. Jim Drake
