From the East:

I am hoping this issue of the Thunderbird Trestle Board finds all my lodge Brothers and their families in good health and spirits. Many of our Brothers have been away on vacations during these summer months, so we missed the August Trestle Board, the first month we have not published one in quite some time. I just returned from my summer vacation and I’m feeling quite refreshed. I saw a monument near Leadville, Colorado to the Masonic Lodge chartered at the highest elevation in the U.S., Corinthian Lodge #42, in Kokomo, Colorado. Corinthian lodge was closed in 1966 because the town of Kokomo along with a few other nearby towns became buried in the tailings from the Climax molybdenum mine.

On July 7, Brothers David Beacco, Clinton Molodow and myself paid a visit to PM Stan Woods, who has been recovering from a series of leg and hip operations. Worshipful Brother Stan is recovering quite nicely and his wife is happy to see that he will be able to return to lodge pretty soon. Also, Bryan Mack had a fall resulting in a mild concussion at the beginning of July and is all healed up now, and it is good to see that his injuries were not serious. Our prayers need to go out to PM Jeff Grayson, who recently had surgery for a second time on his foot, caused by complications with diabetes.

On July 19, Thunderbird was honored to have Most Worshipful David Luebke, Grand Master of Masons in Arizona, present in our lodge at an EA degree for Bryan David Campbell. It was on honor to sit in lodge with the Grand Master and hear his words of encouragement and his joy about us returning to our lodge room. I also would like to welcome Bryan as our newest brother at Thunderbird 15.

At our stated meeting on July 12, we were also honored to have an official visit from the Junior Grand Deacon, WB Michael Meier, who also sat as Junior Warden for the evening. WB Michael spoke about Grand Lodge being most importantly composed of all the Masters and Wardens of each lodge in Arizona, which are the real driving force behind the direction and long range planning by the Grand Line. He also spoke of some of the trends the Grand Lodge and Grand Line have gone through in recent history and are going through now. If you were not in lodge on July 12, you missed some good discussion on Masonry.

At our stated meeting on August 9, Brother John T. Logan gave his proficiency in the lecture on the Fellow Craft Degree, and it was a job truly well done. His MM degree is scheduled for September 27, in our lodge at 7:00 PM. I have some of the parts for this degree team filled, but I am still looking some brothers to help, especially with the second section. All volunteers will be accepted. There will be a final practice for this degree on Sept. 20. I would like to put on a well-done degree, but if you do not wish to be on the degree team, come as a sideliner and welcome John as our newest Master Mason at his degree. If you missed the August 9 meeting, you also missed VW George Stablein speaking on the Constitution and the discussion that followed.

For the stated meeting on September 14, the Red Fez will be open and we have dinner in the Fez at 6:00, before the meeting as usual. Also as usual, the lodge pays for dinner for all brothers and their guests as a token of appreciation for your participation.
